LMK!

I guess Hannah has kept up with her dream of becoming a "princess". Too funny to look back at the previous post when she was three to see her all dressed up in her princess attire! This summer she really wanted to try out for Little Miss Kingsley. I didn't know what to think. Yeah, it's a small town and it's not like a pageant but I really struggled with the thought of her feeling like she's not good enough or special just the way she is!
Anyway, the week before we talked about what the interviews all entailed. We stressed this is all for fun and told her countless times, "It's okay if you don't win. You are still special!" She would always say..."I know!" :) Our only suggestion was to speak up and DON'T CHEW ON YOUR FINGERNAILS!!!
She made it through the interview just fine. When I asked her how it went she said, "They kept nodding and saying hmmmm when I gave my answers...I think they liked them!" :) Next, we had to wait TWO more days for the results.
In true K-town tradition, everyone gathered on Main St. after the parade to hear the Little Miss Kingsley candidates introduce themselves and then announce the winner! We couldn't believe it when the announcer said, "The 2013 Little Miss Kingsley is...Miss Hannah Koch!"
First I took a breath, then I tried to memorize the look on Hannah's face! It was priceless! She was so happy-maybe shocked-but there was no way anyone could wipe that sweet little smile off her face!

My favorite part of this story happened later on during the "adult activities" when one of the organizers approached us to congratulate us on her "title", saying she had given them all goosebumps when she was asked about her favorite part of her day. Her answer, "When we sit down as a family and talk about our day."

And that's when it hit me...it's the little stuff that counts!
